Initially the
scooter service was a need-based venture that I promoted in order to facilitate
my father's mobility after he suffered a stroke. Even though malls are wheelchair
friendly, the apparatus is often cumbersome and difficult to maneuver.
My father's frustration at having his abilities undermined
after successful rehabilitation prompted me to launch this effort for purely
personal reasons. I soon realized that helping my father readjust and again
become a viable member of the community was just the tip of the iceberg.
There
are countless individuals in the same situation who could benefit not only
physically but emotionally by having their freedom given back to them.
